The distinct lines and colors of Kristiina Lassus' Ksoo durrie rugs echo of travel, distant cultures, vibrant colors and the natural world. Utilizing a traditional flat-weave pattern with a cotton base and added wool, the durries give a modern twist on the traditional hand woven Indian floor coverings. The Hindu/Urdu word for cotton woven rug is where durries gets its name from. However, the design is quite modern in appearance and ideal to furnish a variety of contemporary spaces. The weaving method is comparatively quick and easy, while requiring less materials than other types of carpets, making the designs economical as well. They are light-weight, practical and beautiful - almost like thick floor textiles or spreads - and used widely all over India from farmers' homes to kings' palaces, in varying degrees of quality. Kristiina Lassus durries are made of mill spun Indian wool and jute. The rugs are produced in limited series. No child labor has been used in the creation (Rug mark and Kaleem certificates). The black and natural jute colored Ksoo rug is 65% wool and 35% jute with binding edges.
