In tradition with Eero Aarnio's comical and creative style, there is no subject that cannot be used for inspiration for his furniture. Created in 1998, the Formula Chair follows the lines and feel of a formula one race car while maintaining hints of his signature soft curves that define some of his other furniture like the Bubble Chair and the Ball Chair. Aarnio describes the design as: When looking at a Formula 1 car from above there are two very wide 'armrests' on either side of the driver and looking from the side there is a high headrest. When you take out the wheels, what is left is clearly a FORMULA Chair and they both move about, although the car is faster . The chair is constructed of fiberglass in the same factory in Finland, using the original molds.
